The Sedgwick County Zoo opened in 1971 and is ranked among the best zoos in the USA.
There are more than 3,000 individual animals and 400 different species. This is the number
1 family attraction in all of Kansas. There are sections devoted to the Tropics, Amphibians,
Penguin Cove, Children’s farm, Orangutan & Chimpanzee Habitat, and special areas for Asia,
Africa, Australia, and South America.
Sedwick County Zoo
The Kansas Aviation Museum opened was started in June 1930 and finally finished in March
of 1935. It is a grand art-deco style building and houses old Ford Tri-Motors to a modern Concorde.
At one time Wichita was a major stop-over for all airlines and during the 1940’s, it was one of the
busiest airports in the nation. There were take-offs and landings every 90 seconds.

very unique architecture. It hosts trade shows, meetings, public exhibits, banquets, and special
events. It has a 2,195 seat concert hall, a convention hall for over 5,000, and 45,000 sq. ft.
exhibition area.
